Brompton Bicycle – 2009 edition

Description

First Edition
This is the first edition edition of ‘Brompton Bicycle’, now superceded by a second and revised second edition. We only have a few copies, left over in error when the new books came out. Lacking the latest info on Brompton’s continuing story, but the history section is much the same, as is the chapter on hints and tips, and we’re selling the books at half price.

Fascinating History
The story would be hard to make up. A lone inventor, struggling for years in his bedroom building prototypes. Eventually he produces a world-class folding bike. The idea was to sell the concept to a consumer engineering business. But none were interested. Eventually, Andrew Ritchie was forced to go it alone, starting a company that is now one of the biggest and most successful folding bike manufacturers in the world.

Access to all the Players
‘Brompton Bicycle’ is based on taped interviews with the major players. Ritchie himself, plus his management team, competitors, backers, shareholders and financiers. The book covers the early development of folding bikes. Plus the detailed story of the Brompton. There are also tips and hints for anyone buying or maintaining a new or secondhand Brompton.
