Stapleford Steam

Another excellent DVD from Nick Dodson’s Railfilms. Stapleford Steam tells the story of the Stapleford Miniature Railway from its early years in the 1950s as an integral part of a Longleat-style Safari park to its closure and eventual reincarnation as an enthusiast-run line.

Unique footage
This new edition includes recently discovered film clips from the early days, by amateur film-makers, enthusiasts and broadcasts by local ITV company Anglia. There is much of interest here to the casual viewer, serious enthusiasts and historians, including full details of the line’s current regular locomotives, including the first steaming of John Wilks’s awe-inspiring East African Railways 2-8-4.
